Operation on wetlands in Brittany
- Operation on wetlands in Brittany
The operation is conducted by a cooperative society of collective interest (SCIC), allowing an overall vision of both the issues of the territory and the compensation. This company will be composed of 6 colleges: compensation operators (experts, technicians), financial partners, local authorities, experts, owners and managers, employees.
The operation will be carried out in the Aff watershed, southwest of Rennes. It aims to restore, rehabilitate or create at least 600 ha of wetlands, to replant 90 to 180 ha of woodland and to restore about 50 ha of woodland habitats.
The units created will offset impacts to wetlands, woodlands and associated protected species, primarily related to small development projects (ZACs, solar farms, etc.). The units will consist of a "composite offset asset", made up of a core asset (created, rehabilitated or restored entity), areas of ecosystem service production (bocage network, landscape, functionality) and complementary actions outside of the offset request. This valuation approach makes it possible to integrate general biodiversity into the offset system, in addition to the remarkable species and habitats affected by the operation.
